San Diego Earthworks Incorporates Green Practices Into Their Green Home Tour

On Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5, San Diego EarthWorks will have its annual self-guided tour of homes and businesses in San Diego County that features sustainable building practices that are attractive, practical, and affordable today. These structures demonstrate that energy and resource-efficient residential and commercial design and construction are the right way to build. Sites on the tour will include new construction as well as rebuilds and retrofits.

San Diego Earthworks is incorporating two new areas of green planning planning for this year’s Green Home Tour. First, they are printing their guides on recycled paper and sending as much invitations, invitations to volunteer and notices for their tour via computer. Although they don’t currently organize carpools, they have planned the event in clusters with areas that are close together so that
participants do not have to drive as far. For example, they have the San Diego cluster
of 14 sites, 2 in Carlsbad and 4 in the Fallbrook area. They have found that carpools and bus options
have failed in the past, but are looking for new approaches for next year’s event.

If you have any ideas to share with them, you can contact Kym Raines, Development Director for San Diego Earthworks at (619) 272-0236 or by email at kymraines@yahoo.com. You can find out more information about San Diego Earthworks at www.earthdayweb.org

ScrapArtsMusic

Sprecifically I am talking about ScrapArtsMusic.

Styrofoam versus Ceramic Mugs

One easy choice for planning a small green event planning would seem to be the option of switching from Styrofoam coffee cups to a “bring your own mug” suggestion.

Jacob Leibenluft, a writer from Washington, D.C. recently wrote an article for MSN Latern on the confusion on this topic in the context of office settings. We liked it and and thought we would share it with you.
